"Reviewing the best and worst of the things we find at the cutting edge of the web"

iPad special

We invited Joe Fung and his iPad into the webgun labs for some extensive testing on the hot product of 2010. Do you really need one? Let's take a look! #ep19
...by Chris on 23 July 2010

SO the iPad, the hottest thing since the last thing apple released where you had to queue up for hours/days to be one of the first to get your grubby hands on a new slice of tech.

What is all the fuss about? do you really need one? are they worth the cash money?

We got our boy Joe Fung in, who in a slightly unorthodox/sensible way ORDERED AN IPAD ONLINE! so all he had to do was open his door on the morning of release instead of trying to hold his piss in for 24 hours.

In the Webgun Labs we put the iPad through it’s paces by pitting it against a Macbook Pro and iPhone to see if the iPad really saved time or improves the user journey and experience.

1st test - New York Times website / find the article titled ‘Africa host the cup but import the cultures.’

2nd test - Video playing capabilities / find and play episode 2 of ‘Lee Nelsons well good show’

3rd test - Facebook test / create and event called ‘Webgun party, 20th July 2010 8pm, Oxford Circus’

Listen to #ep19for the non-scientific results

Joe did a bit of show and tell, with his top 3 iPad specific apps, which can are

Wired magazine
Atomic web browser
Geometry wars

We finish up by having a chuckle with Tom Dixon who relentlessly puts ‘objects’ into his mega blender, and yes he has blended an iPad, check it out here in our REAL LOL section
